P1/2 were exploring the terms melting and setting today, using hot water as our heat source. We tried to melt a range of materials, such as a spoon, chocolate, coconut oil and even a pencil! We witnessed how only some of the materials were able to melt and change from a hard solid into a runny liquid. The pupils then became bakers as they melted chocolate and made their own Rice Krispie buns, watching how our chocolate started as a solid bar and then once it was heated, melted into lovely runny chocolate. Of course the best part was eating their creations once they had set!
